Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd.
This fiscal year, Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (SMM) released its first integrated report, to promote an even better understanding of its approaches to the SMM Group goal of "sustainable growth and maximization of corporate value" among all of its stakeholders.
Features of the SMM Integrated Report 2016
The Report was compiled around perspectives on the kind of value being created by the SMM Group and the methodology of this creation, its aspirations for the future and approaches being taken to realize them, and the foundation supporting its value creation.
The compilation was based on financial information on performance and other items disclosed in our Annual Report and non-financial information, consisting mainly of on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, disclosed in our CSR Report up to and including fiscal 2015. To this was added information on value created and the process of this creation including the business model, targets and strategies over the medium and long terms, and strengths that have been nurtured by the Group, along with supplementary information on cases of exercise of these strengths, for example. The team compiling the Report strove to make it more readable and easy to understand.
It should be noted that the preparation of the Report drew on the International Integrated Reporting Framework set forth by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) as a reference. In addition, as in preceding years, the information disclosed in the sustainability report is in conformance with the core option in the fourth edition (G4) of the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines issued by the GRI*. Likewise, its self-declared information and performance data received third-party certification.
Beginning this fiscal year, SMM is discontinuing preparation of the Annual Report and the CSR Report released in preceding years, because their contents are included in the scope of the Integrated Report.
SMM is committed to continued efforts for fair and appropriate information disclosure in order to deepen understanding of the Groupwide goal of "sustainable growth and maximization of corporate value."
