Coral Bay Nickel Corporation Philippines wins the Platinum Award (second place) at the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) in 2019.

Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) has received the Platinum (runner-up) Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) from the Philippines’ Department of Environment and Natural Resources in 2019.
While this award was in the metal smelting and refining category, it was given to CBNC in general recognition of the company’s environment management and safety management at its plant, protection of the local environment, and social contribution. Along with this award, CBNC also won the Safest Mineral Processing – Extraction Category Award and was 1st runner-up for the Best Mining Forest Contest.

Furthermore, CBNC’s subsidiary Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL) was also awarded the Titanium Selection Committee Achievement Award (the third highest award after the PMIEA and Platinum Award). Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation won the Titanium Award in 2016 and 2017 while also winning the Platinum Award in 2018, making this the fourth year in a row it has received an award. The company was also the runner-up to CBNC for the Safest Mineral Processing – Extraction Category Award.

In terms of our operations at Coral Bay, both CBNC and Taganito HPAL strive to operate in a socially responsible manner by contributing to the surrounding area through building infrastructure for local communities, increasing employment, and sourcing materials locally alongside other such actions as well as operating with the minimum environmental impact, preventing environmental accidents, restoring the ecosystem by greening tailings dams created by CBNC, and preserving biodiversity.
