Support for the Ceremony Marking the 120th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration to New Caledonia

Sumitomo Metal Mining has decided to make a donation to support the ceremony marking the 120th anniversary of the first Japanese immigration to New Caledonia.

2012 marks the 120th year since the first Japanese immigrants arrived in New Caledonia. In 1952, SMM imported nickel ore from Ballande for the first time, and we subsequently built stable and friendly business relationships with this and other suppliers which we maintain to this day.
SMM shall henceforth continue to position New Caledonia as an important region in its ferronickel business and contribute to the industrial development of New Caledonia.
