Coral Bay Nickel Corporation Philippines wins first place in ASEAN Mineral Awards 2019

SMM subsidiary Coral Bay Nickel Corporation has been recognized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the ASEAN Mineral Awards 2019 and awarded first prize for “Best Practices in Sustainable Mineral Development” in the Metallic and Mineral Processing Category.
In these awards, each of the 11 ASEAN member states recommend a leading company in each category from which three are selected through a screening process before the winner is selected in the final consideration. CBNC was recommended as a leading company in the Metallic and Mineral Processing Category by the government of the Philippines, and received the award after the final considerations were held during an ASEAN ministerial conference concerning minerals in Bangkok, Thailand.
CBNC strives to operate in a socially responsible manner by contributing to the surrounding area through building infrastructure for local communities, increasing employment, and sourcing materials locally alongside other such actions as well as operating with the minimum environmental impact, preventing environmental accidents, restoring the ecosystem by greening tailings dams, and preserving biodiversity.
