Sumitomo Metal Mining Group Community Investment Policy

We, the SMM Group (Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and its subsidiaries; hereinafter referred to as the "Group"), place the Sumitomo Business Spirit at the center of our corporate conduct. For more than 430 years, we have valued relationships of trust with our stakeholders, including local communities, and have continued to work to resolve social issues through our business.

Our Group upholds "Coexistence with the Earth and society" in the SMM Group Corporate Philosophy, and aims to be a company that grows together with local communities, as a partner that continues to be trusted. In particular, based on our experience in mine development, smelting and refining, we recognize the importance of engaging in continuing dialogue with communities in the areas where we operate, including Indigenous Peoples; understanding the impacts of the Group's activities and the issues facing those communities; and, on that basis, avoiding or minimizing adverse impacts while contributing to the sustainable development of the areas where we operate. Accordingly, the Group will support activities that contribute to the co-existence and mutual prosperity with communities in the areas where we operate, with the following as priority areas.

1. Support for Next-Generation Development
   Activities that support the healthy growth and learning of children and young people in the areas where we operate, and contribute to developing the people who will shape the future of their communities.
2. Support for Community Revitalization (Promotion of Local Culture, Sports, etc.)
   Activities that support traditional culture and sports in the areas where we operate, strengthen community cohesion and vitality, and contribute to building thriving communities.
3. Support for Enhancing Adaptability to Changes in the External Environment (Strengthening Resilience)
   Activities that, particularly in areas where we conduct mine development, smelting and refining, strengthen the foundations of communities, such as safety, environment, welfare, infrastructure, industry and disaster risk reduction, and contribute to their sustainable development.

This policy was discussed within the Sustainability Committee of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and approved by the Board of Directors.
